Brandenburg Kids Laugh, Serve, and Learn During Mission's Youth Lock-In Program
Kids need to have fun, but when the fun also has a worthwhile purpose, kids grow and flourish! Our Friday Night on the Streets event is fun with a purpose. Recently, a legion of happy, energetic kids from Meade County General Baptist Church arrived at the mission's Hotel Louisville. Typically, our young guests serve dinner and then enjoy an hour of lively Gospel music performed by the Down by the Wayside Choir. During the performance, choir members shared their stories of overcoming addiction by the power of God's love. After the music, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed, the mission's chaplain offered a devotional geared for a teen audience. Then it was time to unroll the sleeping bags, for everyone was up at 5:30 AM the following morning to serve breakfast. There is never a dull moment during Friday Night on the Streets,--and the kids from Brandenburg had a barrel of fun. They learned a lot about addiction and recovery, too. We hope these kids come back and see us again next year!
