Home Grown, Healthy, and Good!
You must admit that nothing can equal the satisfying flavor of fresh from the garden, home grown vegetables. This summer, Hotel Louisville’s WayCool Café patrons have been enjoying a variety of flavorful vegetables, grown without pesticides, and picked onsite from our nine 4’ X 8’ garden boxes. Growing fresh vegetables in the heart of downtown Louisville may seem novel and slightly out of place, but the trend of “urban gardening” is becoming popular among many city dwellers. Thanks to the generous support of the University of Louisville and, in particular, to the university’s Dr. Edna Ross, our urban gardening venture is yielding a variety of healthful, flavorful vegetables. Nearly every day, one of our chefs picks sun-ripened vegetables that are ready for the table. Many of our resident clients are discovering that gardening is both fun and therapeutic—and our luncheon guests agree that nothing beats home grown!
